Here are other example of some more unusual jobs that i have completed.
Pasty
Every once in a while a job comes in that I have no idea why!
Carnglaze Chimney Cap
An unusual chimney cap job. The customer simply wanted something reasonably ornate but allowing for the disused chimney flue to be vented. I used sand cast lead to give a more traditional look with the texture.
St Columb Ball Finial
This was one of my favourite cast projects. I was commissioned to produce a lead finial for the Town Hall roof in St Columb in Cornwall. Because the town is home to a traditional ball game called Hurling, the town council asked if the finial could be a larger replica of the ball used in the game, complete with the game’s slogan embossed.
Cavity Trays
Often within the fabric of a building a damp-proof course is installed during construction as a vital component. Various plastics can be used, but often result in needing to be cut and folded to form the correct shape.
Gate Top
Here is a one-off piece of work. A code 5 gate capping to stop water damaging the timber.
Lead Wetsuit Tub
Here is a lead clad tub for washing a drip-drying wetsuits in a seaside property. All joints were filed and polished to create a seam free appearance.
Spike Finial
This lead finial was made for a clock tower.
Vent slate
Vent slates can be made to any size or shape. Lead vent slates often compliment a roof much better than plastic alternatives. And the outlet pipe can be made to any size required.
X-ray Door
One of the more unusual projects I have completed. This X-ray proof door was made for a vets surgery as part of an upgrade for radiation proofing. Lead is used in many applications other than construction.
